I had the daunting privilege of preaching at the Haberdashers’ Boys ‘ School carol service in December 2022. Normally their chaplain would preach. But on this occasion, the chaplain’s post was vacant, so I was asked to step in. What to say to 1,000 boys and staff who probably didn’t want to listen to a sermon?
