A Sermon for the Diocesan Office Staff

Usually a bishop or archdeacon is invited to preach at the monthly diocesan office staff Eucharist. This time, nobody was available, so I filled in. Here is what I said.

More than Meets the Eye (A Sermon)

“There’s more than meets the eye.”

So the saying goes. What looks like the local carpenter, turning up one Sabbath at the Synagogue in Nazareth, turns out be the beginning of a ministry that will change the world.

Gaining and Losing Life (A Sermon)

Jesus said: “Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”

God’s Word (A Sermon)

This sermon weaves together a poem written by Artificial Intelligence, a story of how I was misled, and an exploration of the power of language.

Four Meanings of “Follow Me”

Jesus told his disciples: “Follow me!” But in one South American language there are four different words for “follow”. So, which one should the Bible translator choose?
